Why we like it…
We created Clean Caffeine because we couldn’t find any high-quality, fresh organic coffee in a non-toxic coffee, compostable bag. This coffee comes in bags with fully compostable parts, including even the valve and label, and are certified compostable and free of PFAS and other toxins.
Typically, toxins from various sources contaminate coffee. including:
- Pesticides from growing, including chlorpyrifos, which the authority has banned for household use in the U.S. because it can cause birth defects.
- Solvents accumulate from the roasting equipment if you do not clean it regularly.
- Microplastics from the polypropylene lining of the bag.
- If you buy decaf and water un-processed, you’re getting Methylene Chloride.
Clean Caffeine is Squeaky Clean!
- Delivered in a 12-ounce bag of fresh organic coffee, either whole beans or ground.
- Processed and stored in plastic-free equipment.
- Fresh organic coffee is fully a Non-Toxic Coffee.
- Fresh roasted which means each bag has a roast date.
- The bags, the valve, the labels, and even the adhesives are nontoxic and 100% compostable.
- All coffee packaging is free of BPA, phthalates, PFAS, fossil fuel by-products, and bleach.
- Certified by ASTM D6400 (American) and EN13432 (European).
- The beans are Ethiopian Arabica (Sidamo Region), wet processed, and certified organic as well as fair trade.
What About Mycotoxins in Coffee?
Mycotoxins are toxic compounds produced by molds that can grow on certain foods, including coffee, when stored in humid or improperly dried conditions. The good news is that if you’re choosing high-quality coffee, mycotoxins are almost certainly not present. Coffee beans with a moisture content below 14% and a water activity level under 0.65 are unlikely likely to harbor mycotoxins. Our coffee moisture content is around 9.5% and a water activity level of 0.4.
