Everything You Need to Know About Kudos Diapers + Wipes (Honest Review)

In This Guide

This Kudos diapers and wipes review is sponsored by Kudos. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely our own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make the Good Stuff!

If you’ve been looking for a truly non-toxic disposable diaper and wipes brand, you’ve probably come across Kudos. Kudos launched in 2021 after several years of development, making it one of the newer entrants in the “clean diaper” space, and they’ve gotten a lot of attention for using more plant-based materials—and for claiming to perform just as well as conventional diapers and wipes.

As part of the process of updating our Diaper Guide and Wipes Guide, we recently took a deep dive into both the materials and the performance to see if Kudos lives up to the hype.

What Makes Kudos Diapers Different

The biggest differentiator with Kudos diapers, when comparing them to other “clean” brands, is simple but meaningful: Cotton (not plastic!) is the material that touches your baby’s most sensitive skin.

Every other disposable diaper brand we reviewed, including the several that we consider Good Stuff, still use plastic materials for the top sheet. Kudos is currently the only brand using cotton in this layer, which is especially appealing for babies with sensitive or rash-prone skin.

Kudos uses TruCotton for this layer, which is grown in the U.S. and processed without water or harsh chemicals, making it a more environmentally-friendly form of cotton.

Moreover, both the cotton and the diapers themselves are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning they’ve been tested for a wide range of potentially harmful substances.

Kudos also uses water-based inks (free of heavy metals) and FSC-certified materials to produce their diapers.

Cotton vs. Bamboo in Diapers

You’ll see a lot of “eco” diapers made with bamboo fibers, but the reality is that converting bamboo into fabric requires energy-intensive processing and chemical solvents.

Well-sourced cotton is often a cleaner and more transparent alternative, and we even prefer responsibly sourced plant-based plastics (e.g., bio-polyethylene) over bamboo viscose in most cases.

All About Kudos Wipes

Kudos also makes baby wipes, and they’re just as thoughtfully formulated as the diapers, even though they are made of totally different materials!

Kudos wipes are made of plant-based cellulose fiber (which is our top pick for a wipe material) and 99% purified water, plus glycerin, squalene, apple extract, and our preferred surfactant and preservatives (decyl glucoside and potassium sorbate, respectively).

Kudos wipes are also:

  • EWG Verified
  • hypoallergenic
  • biodegradable and compostable

Kudos Diapers and Wipes: Performance

Clean ingredients are great, but only if the diapers and wipes actually work well!

In our testing, Kudos diapers and wipes stood out in a few ways.

Kudos diapers:

  • have a very soft, flexible feel
  • make it easy to get a secure, leak-resistant fit
  • offer strong absorbency, even when fully saturated, and effective moisture retention

One thing that was notable to Colleen, the mom on our team who tested these on her baby, is that the diaper expands when full, but it still holds moisture well, without leaking or feeling overly wet against the skin.

Kudos wipes are:

  • extra thick
  • textured for better grip
  • effective for cleaning without needing multiple wipes

I find reason to use wipes around the house even now, when my youngest has been out of diapers for more than a decade, and these are really top quality, with no weird smell or too much suds.

Our own Dr. Hopkins was particularly impressed with Kudos’ approach:

"Kudos makes materially safer and more sustainable design choices despite higher costs and manufacturing complexity. They have demonstrated a willingness to invest in both material integrity and supply chain rigor, which is exactly the kind of accountability we encourage."

That combination—better materials and real performance—is what we’re always looking for at Gimme!

Final Verdict on Kudos Diapers & Wipes

Kudos diapers and wipes stand out because they don’t force you to choose between safety and performance. The brand is clearly prioritizing both material safety and environmental impact, but their diaper works as well as a Pamper.

The bottom line and pleasant surprise with Kudos diapers and wipes is that you’re truly not sacrificing performance for cleaner materials.

If you’ve tried Kudos, I’d love to hear what you think!

Stay sane,
