How CoreXchange™ Filtration Works
Epic describes CoreXchange™ as a dual-layer filtration system with multiple filtration stages. Its carbon-impregnated nanofiber media targets microbiological contaminants and microplastics, while carbon-based media helps reduce chlorine, certain metals, PFAS and other chemicals. Epic also describes a resin filtration stage that targets contaminants such as fluoride and arsenic.
Testing and Performance
Epic states that the Smart Shield Max is independently tested to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, P231 and 401. Testing to these standards should not be interpreted as independent product certification to every standard or for every listed contaminant. Replacement Filters and Care
Use the Smart Shield Max replacement cartridge specifically designed for this system. Filters for the original Smart Shield are not interchangeable with Smart Shield Max filters. Install and maintain according to Epic's instructions. For water of unknown microbiological safety, obtain appropriate water-quality guidance before relying on any filtration system as a treatment method.
