How Cactus Leather Is Made
Cactus leather is created in partnership with Desserto®, a Mexico-based innovator in sustainable materials.
On sustainably operated nopal cactus farms, mature cactus leaves are harvested without harming the plant, allowing the same plants to be harvested again every 6–8 months.
Every harvest is fully utilized. The leaves are used for human consumption, animal feed, and the production of cactus leather, helping minimize waste and maximize the value of each harvest.
How to Care for Cactus Leather
To clean, gently wipe away surface dirt, scuff marks, or light spots with a soft, damp cloth.
To help maintain the material, apply a thin layer of colorless beeswax or coconut wax using a clean, soft cloth. Allow the bag to rest in a well-ventilated area for 30 minutes, away from direct heat.
For fresh stains, gently wipe the affected area with a soft cloth dampened with clean water and thoroughly wrung out. Avoid rubbing aggressively, as this may damage the surface.
