Golden Designs Savonlinna GDI-8503-01, a 3 person outdoor traditional steam sauna featuring an all-weather exterior, Canadian Red Cedar interior, and a powerful 8.0 kW Harvia electric stove. Part of Golden Designs’ Barn Series outdoor collection, this compact cabin-style sauna delivers an authentic traditional sauna session in a footprint that works beautifully on patios, decks, or garden corners.
Step inside and you’re surrounded by all-natural Canadian Red Cedar, known for its warm tone, pleasant aroma, and suitability for sauna environments. The 3 person capacity is ideal for couples, small families, or anyone who wants enough bench space to stretch out without committing to a large cabin. The Harvia 8 kW traditional stove with built-in controls heats stones to a high, even temperature; simply ladle water over them to create soothing steam and soft, enveloping löyly. The ideal operating range is around 170–185°F, with the sauna capable of reaching up to 190°F for those who prefer a hotter session.
Atmosphere is where the Savonlinna really shines. Overhead, an interior ceiling galaxy star color therapy lighting system adds a subtle, spa-like glow, while interior rear wall accent lighting highlights the cedar grain and creates a relaxing ambiance. A built-in LED control panel lets you adjust lighting and manage the FM radio and Bluetooth connection from inside the cabin. Pair your phone, press play, and enjoy your own playlists through the built-in performance speakers—no extra wiring or components required.
On the outside, the Savonlinna features an all-weather exterior designed for outdoor installation. The barn-style silhouette and compact footprint complement a wide variety of backyard designs. A bronze privacy tempered glass door gives the sauna an open, welcoming look while still providing a sense of seclusion once you’re inside. Black stainless steel hinges and handle add durability and a modern, contrasting detail against the wood.
Electrical planning is straightforward and clearly specified. The Harvia 8 kW stove operates on a 240V / 40-amp dedicated circuit, while the lighting, audio, and control panel are powered by a separate 120V / 15-amp circuit. This separation keeps heat and controls on appropriate loads and makes it easier for a licensed electrician to wire the sauna safely and in line with local codes.
The Savonlinna comes with a full set of traditional sauna accessories, so you’re ready to enjoy steam bathing right away. Included are a sandglass timer, bucket, and water scoop, all coordinated to match the sauna’s look and built to withstand regular use. The timer helps you keep sessions consistent, while the bucket and scoop give you precise control over the amount of steam you introduce.
Despite its solid construction, the Savonlinna maintains an efficient footprint. The assembled exterior dimensions are approximately 69" (W) x 68" (D) x 89" (H), with the roof overhang adding about 4" around the top perimeter. Inside, you get about 63" (W) x 62" (D) x 82" (H) of usable space—enough room for three bathers or extra legroom for solo sessions. With an assembled weight of about 1185 lbs and shipping weight around 1385 lbs, shipped in 11 boxes, the sauna is substantial yet manageable for professional delivery and assembly.
For long-term peace of mind, the Savonlinna is backed by a 5-year limited warranty on heating elements and electronics and a 1-year warranty on the radio and wood structure, reflecting Golden Designs’ commitment to reliable performance and customer support.
