Remove Iron, Manganese, and Hydrogen Sulfide from Your Home's Water
Iron and manganese are metallic elements found in many types of rock. Most groundwater contains some level of both, which naturally leach from rocks and soils. Excess amounts in drinking water cause discolored water, bitter tastes, rust flakes, and rusty-brown stains or black specks on fixtures and laundry. Buildup can also affect the taste of beverages and create deposits in pipes, heaters, and pressure tanks.
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), responsible for a "rotten egg" odor, is frequently found alongside excess iron and manganese — released from soil under low dissolved oxygen and low pH conditions. Metal removal systems are an especially effective solution for well water households, making this one of the best whole house filtration options available.
Pre-Filtration
Water passes through a 20" sediment cartridge that removes sediment, silt, sand, and dirt.
Post-Filtration
Water passes through a 20" solid carbon cartridge to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs), insecticides, pesticides, and industrial solvents.
Metal Removal Water Filter
Water flows through an iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide-reducing mineral tank, enhanced with ERA® 6500 & 9500 media to prevent bacteria growth.
SMART Water Filter (Optional)
A proprietary blend of two types of coconut-shell GAC (including Catalytic), two types of Eagle Redox Alloys® (9500 & 6500), and anion exchange resin. Effectively reduces heavy metals, chlorine, chloramine, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceutical byproducts, and other inorganic substances. Ceramic and Tourmaline balls help maintain a more alkaline pH. To read about how GAC works, click here. To read about the ERA® Oxidation/Reduction Process, click here.
Water Softener (Optional)
An ion exchange resin and brine water conditioner addresses hard water caused by calcium and magnesium minerals. Hard water leads to staining on sinks, tubs, and clothing, reduced soap lather, limescale buildup in pipes, and reduced efficiency in water heaters and household appliances. Water softening extends the lifespan of plumbing, laundry machines, solar heating systems, and air conditioning units.
Additional Add-On Options
-
12 GPM UV Water Sterilizer: Disinfects water faster than chlorine, without chemicals, targeting bacteria, viruses, algae, and protozoa.
-
Leak Detector Valve: Detects leaks within the filter system and shuts off the water supply to prevent flooding.
-
Vacuum Breaker: Protects filter tanks and housings against negative pressure in the water line.
-
Metered Valve: Triggers backwashing based on gallon usage rather than a fixed timer schedule.
-
Oxidation System: Uses ozone for efficient water oxidation and improved water quality.
Important to Know
Pinholes or rust may occur on stainless steel tanks in high-humidity environments, where salt is present, or when condensation is not routinely wiped down. A fiberglass tank is recommended for installations exposed to these conditions.
