Salt-Free Water Conditioner
The Crystal Quest® Saltless Water Conditioner uses a technology that transforms calcium (hardness) in water into mechanically stable and heat-resistant calcite crystals (nanometer size) that no longer cause lime deposits. The calcium is simply rinsed away.
Calcium hardness creates scale in pipes, on appliances, and on other plumbing surfaces — leading to higher heating and energy costs, expensive appliance repairs, and potential bacterial growth. This system removes existing scale from pipes and heat exchanger surfaces (descaling effect) and protects against future scale formation (scale protection effect).
When hardness levels appear at 25 gpg (grains per gallon) or higher, pre-treatment or additional media may be required. Please consult a specialist for this condition.
Water Travels Through 4 Stages of Filtration
-
Stage 1: Water flows through a 20" sediment filter cartridge that removes sediment, silt, sand, and dirt.
-
Stage 2: Water flows through a Crystal Quest Eagle Anti-Scale media tank.
-
Stage 3: Water flows through a 20" solid carbon cartridge for removing volatile organic carbon compounds (VOCs), insecticides, pesticides, and industrial solvents.*
-
Stage 4: Water passes through a 20" 0.2-micron ultrafiltration (UF) membrane — an important purification technology effective for the removal of colloids, proteins, bacteria, viruses, parasites, protozoa, pyrogens (e.g., gram-negative bacterial endotoxins), other organic molecules larger than 0.2-micron, and most other water contaminants known today.

Removal of Existing Calcium Deposits
The calcium crystals rinsed away by the water cannot attach to any surfaces. Due to the nanostructure of the crystals, they function similarly to Crystal Quest® Eagle® Anti-Scale Media — binding additional calcium and breaking the grid binding structure of existing deposits. Even after a short time, large pieces of deposits are removed, and the process continues until the surface is free from deposits.
Formation of a Corrosion-Preventing Layer
After existing calcium deposits are removed, a 30- to 80-micron thick corrosion-preventing layer forms through the reaction of the nano surface of the crystals and the metallic surface of the pipes — comparable to the protective verdigris layer on a copper roof. Once formed, the protective layer maintains complete protection without further growth.
Anti-Scale media may be required as a pretreatment in some hard water conditions. This conditioner eliminates the use of salt and wastewater associated with backwashing, while still providing comfortable, soft-feeling water. Used as an alternative to salt-based softeners, Eaglesorb ES3 scale control media prevents the negative effects of calcium and magnesium while allowing positive health benefits to remain.
Additional Product Options
-
12 GPM UV Water Sterilizer: Designed to address microorganism control concerns — including bacteria, viruses, algae, and protozoa. UV treatment disinfects water faster than chlorine without retention tanks or harmful chemicals.
-
Leak Detector Valve: Detects water leaks within the filter system and shuts down the water supply to prevent flooding.
-
Vacuum Breaker: Recommended for installation inline ahead of water filter systems as a precaution against negative pressure (vacuum) in the water line, which can damage filter tanks and housings.
-
Metered Valve: Systems come standard with a timer valve that runs the backwashing schedule on a set number of days (e.g., every 7 days). The metered valve option runs backwashing based on a set number of gallons (e.g., 3,000 gallons).
-
Oxidation System: Utilizes ozone for efficient water oxidation, improving overall water quality.
Important to Know
Pinholes or rust may occur on stainless steel tanks in environments with high humidity, when salt is present, or if condensation remains on the tank without being routinely wiped down. For systems exposed to these conditions or where routine maintenance is not feasible, a fiberglass tank is recommended.
